It is advisable to always wear the latest version in order to get the best benefit from new features.

The LaRPS meter is free and available from the Isle of Legacies main hub, where you teleport into. Just look for a sign like this:

We use a meter to give all players complete fairness in the role play. Dice rolls are used to provide the “random factor” which exists in life. LaRPS, not only provides the features to dice roll based on the player’s statistics but enables character development through their journey as they progress through skills. Of course, there is some pure meter combat (button bashing) but you’ll find this is against the many creatures in the realm. As this is a MMORPG, there are basic creatures such as chickens, mastiffs and other normal animals right up to some of the more aggressive “boss” type fantasy creatures, such as zombies, RazorWings, Dark Bone Elites and more.

When there is Player v Player in the RP area, a storyteller is on scene to witness and provide narration for those successful and unsuccessful rolls. It can get quite entertaining when you are readying your sword only to find out you’ve just cut off your thumb by rolling a “1″. Still, could be worse.

I’ve seen and spoken to many role players in realms where meters and no gauge is used. To me, this is pure godmodding as you already define the goal and outcome of the scene. Not much fun for people if you tell them the ending of the movie and/or story before you begin. The most exciting thing about role play adventures is the discovery itself.

As freeform RP is made up on the spot given a basic outline, the creative minds flow and you really see imagination shine through. After all, we are the most creative race on this planet and just by looking at Second Life itself, the evidence is very clear.
