i dont really know where i should post this so "free speak" seems good enough...
i recently began playing in legacies which up until yesterday or a few days ago used a dice system to decide the outcome of an action.
but i was tould that a new system is now being in use in which level dictates just about everything which does contribute to equal fighting but unfortunately greatly damages the players creativity making a normal human who never help a weapon that have been around for long enough to level a lot stronger than a demon or dragon or whatever... thanks to the fact that most actions will now fail due to the level requirments.
even though the old dice system might seem like it was based too much on luck that is not the case i did get a chance to fight and the battle went on in a good way no one was underpowered and everyone got a chance to react like they wanted to even though the new system will help reduce "god modding" and over powered players i dont see why this is a problem to begin with seeing as the people wouldnt bother playing with a modder all the new system seems to do is cripple the creative freedom that makes role
    playing what it is

    sincerely yours, Meatball :3

    Hey Legion,

I do share your views to a certain point. I have played with different meter-systems, with LaRPS (still lesser experienced) and RPS (fully experienced) as the larger ones. It will always make a difference between people who have been longer and more involved with the RP-area, making them stronger (through experience points). So yes, a character could be living his whole in London with this setting, and still be as weak as a chicken (although, I have found out that the chickens here are well strong!).
So I try to keep my mind set on the future really, if I want to make a larger impact through actions like fighting, I will have to be patient and train myself; till then I will make my impact on the RP with actions which require limited 'controlled' actions.

If I would encounter a person who would be well stronger than the young human I play, I will have to consider my options. In real life reflected: If I would find a wrestler who tries to rob me on the street; would I -being lesser experienced in fighting- take the arms up with him? Or choose value for my money and try to survive... even it could damage my stuff. And of course, after that I can always turn to the authorized forces.

-- With dice RP... Yes, it is always an union between luck and stats. But that is just RP. Paper-RP doesn't work too different in many cases. Just hope that the outcome is what you expected; and if not? Tough. It will still be RP. And that's why we are here :)

--- With the less known RP meters I have played with, you didn't have a stat-xp system. No levels, everybody was equal. That did limit the players to be a big feared fighter; as everybody could tackle that person. It did create more God-modders than the -now- more often used level system strangely enough...

Just my 2 pence... I know, not much worth... just how I see it.

    Legion *waves* Hello!

Just to let you know, that with v.24, the new spells were leveled. However with the new meter v.25. The level requirement is removed and you can be a level 1 and cast Legendary if the dice rolls work for ya. (and you have enough mana. Legendary takes and amazing amount of mana)

So, don't worry about levels, 'cause with the new system, they don't effect what spells you can cast, but the amount of mana does.

    Make sense?

Mana, or what is now called 'Power', is the amount of spell power you have, if you don't have enough power, you can't cast the spell. Just like if you don't have enough strength you won't be able to lift your hand, let alone knock down a wall.

    Same concept.
